People, in general, regard spring as the beginning of a year when everything is fresh and full of vitality. Life displays its energy again, emerging from the icy clutches of winter.

 

The Lichun (Beginning of Spring) in solar term is the official start of spring in China. The earliest spring month is called Mengchun, which is counted from the beginning of the Lichun solar term to the time before the start of Jingzhe (Awakening of Insects).

Spring is also a season for the recovery of all things and the blooming of flowers. The great poet Du Fu wrote, "Dawn sees saturated reds; The town's heavy with blooms." to describe flowers in ancient Chengdu. After more than a thousand years, the flowers in Chengdu are still as splendid as what the poet saw.

Chengdu is among the most popular places to enjoy flowers, according to travel tips recently unveiled by Chinese travel SNS website Mafengwo to help travelers enjoy beautiful flowers in over 100 destinations across the country.

 

In middle and late March, the pink peach blossoms and the white pear blossoms are dotted among the golden rapeseed blossoms all over the mountains and fields. Cherry blossoms, rhododendron, apricot, and canola flowers will be in season from now until May.

With more than 60 urban parks, 100 flower-appreciating walking trails, 45 million pots of seasonal flowers, and 36 national parks, the curtain of spring has been raised in the park city Chengdu. Here are four flower-viewing routes published by Chengdu park city construction authority.
