Jinli Ancient Street, as a tourism attraction brimming with a leisurely and ancient charm, originated in the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC) and has been used to this day. The well-preserved ancient mansions, elegant traditional dwelling houses, and exquisitely designed stores with handicrafts and souvenirs in Jinli Ancient Street fully demonstrate Chengdu's unique lifestyle and culture.

Composed of Wide Alley, Narrow Alley and Well Alley in parallel, Wide and Narrow Alley is an ancient block noted for its profound cultural background stemming from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Although it is a block with a strong commercial ambience, Wide and Narrow Alley also retains the typical characteristics of traditional folk houses in western Sichuan.
