The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Digital Weeks 2026 is currently being held in Chengdu, and as part of the accompanying programme, a series of exciting urban cultural and tourism experiences have been launched. On the afternoon of 19 July, attending delegates visited Chengdu’s Chunxi Road shopping district to embark on an “Urban Fashion Tour”. Strolling between the Chengdu International Finance Centre (IFS) and Chengdu Taikoo Li, they experienced first-hand the fusion of the millennia-old commercial heritage of this “Century-Old Golden Street” with contemporary fashion trends, whilst appreciating the open charm of “Western China’s gateway for inbound tourism”.

The iconic “wall-climbing panda” at the Chengdu International Financial Centre has become a popular spot for group photos. The centre brings together global, national and regional brands opening their first stores in the city, continuously infusing the city with fresh vitality. After taking photos with the “wall-climbing panda”, the guests proceeded to the central “Buy Now, Refund Now” counter, where the convenient tax refund process gave them a first-hand experience of the convenience and efficiency of Chengdu as an international consumer hub.

On the naked-eye 3D screen not far away, the digital imagery was strikingly lifelike, allowing guests to marvel at the wonders of technology whilst also witnessing the boundless potential of digital technology to enhance the urban landscape.

 

It is reported that this urban culture and tourism experience event featured a total of six distinctive itineraries, including the “Urban Fashion Tour”. In addition to the Chunxi Road commercial district, guests could also choose from routes such as the Panda Ecology Tour, the Ancient Shu Exploration Tour and the World Heritage Tour, according to their preferences.
