40th Globally! Chengdu Enters "2025 International Exchange Centers Index" for the First Time

Recently, the China Institute for Development Planning of Tsinghua University and Deloitte China jointly released the 2025 International Exchange Centers Index (hereinafter referred to as the report). Chengdu entered the global top 50 for the first time, ranking 40th worldwide, 7th among Chinese cities, and 1st in central and western China.

As the world’s first report on international exchange centers, the report analyzed and scored cities through data collection, index measurement, and qualitative research from three dimensions—attractiveness, influence, and connectivity. It assessed the role and functions of all participating cities in global factor agglomeration, international political and economic exchanges, global people-to-people connections, and other areas, providing a comprehensive reflection of their international engagement capabilities.

This is the third consecutive year the index has been released. Chengdu’s debut in the ranking this year at 40th place globally underscores Chengdu’s active integration into the overall national and provincial strategies for opening up in recent years, highlighting its efforts in the accelerated development of comprehensive channels and platforms for opening up, continuous enhancement of the open economy, and strengthened multi-layered international cooperation and exchanges. It reflects significant progress in establishing Chengdu as ahub for international exchange in western China.
