The World Games 2025 Chengdu (TWG 2025 Chengdu) opened in Chengdu, Sichuan

On August 7, The World Games 2025 Chengdu (TWG 2025 Chengdu) opened in Chengdu, Sichuan. Chinese State Councilor Shen Yiqin attended the opening ceremony and declared the Games open.

 

 

Kirsty Coventry, President of International Olympic Committee, addressed the event in a video message. Gao Zhidan, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of TWG 2025 Chengdu and Minister of the General Administration of Sport of China, and José Perurena López, President of the International World Games Association (IWGA), addressed the event.

 

Hosted by IWGA, TWG represents the largest and highest-level international multi-sport event for non-Olympic sports, held every four years. TWG 2025 Chengdu features 34 sports, 60 disciplines, and 256 medal events, attracting participations from nearly 4,000 athletes. The Chinese sports delegation has sent 321 athletes to compete in 152 events under 50 disciplines across 28 sports.
