As the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games draw near, the host city, Chengdu, underwent medical drills and transportation upgrades in preparation for the event.
Recently, the provincial Health Commission and West China Hospital affiliated with Sichuan University conducted medical drills to ensure quality service during the Games.
Selected from within the hospital, some 50 medical staff from various departments participated in drills, making use of ambulances with 5G technology, including one specially for CT scans.
The drill followed the standard protocol for admitting patients, medical consultation, rescue and emergency coping mechanisms.
The city also geared up transportation capacity to introduce vehicles using the Autonomous Rail Rapid Transit system, a self-developed technology of China, scheduled to run from July 23.
Manufactured in Yibin City in Sichuan Province, the virtual rail vehicles will carry spectators to the Dong'an Lake Sports Park, where the main stadium is situated from 7:30 in the morning every half hour until 8 p.m, with a maximum capacity of 300 passengers and a max speed of 70 kilometers per hour.
The system bears the advantages of modern trams and conventional buses and features independent guidance, tracking, and all-electric and intelligent driving, providing much convenience for game attendees.
