In a grand celebration of a half-century of diplomatic ties between China and Spain, a lighting ceremony was held at Tianfu Twin Towers in Chengdu. The event, held on the evening of May 18, was jointly organized by the Foreign Affairs Office of the Chengdu Municipal People's Government and the Chengdu Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone Administrative Committee.
The evening sky came alive as a mesmerizing light show adorned the towers with vibrant hues inspired by the national flags of China and Spain. Serving as a captivating backdrop were two prominent messages displayed on the towers: "Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of China-Spain Diplomatic Relations" and "Congratulations to Spain as the Country of Honour of the 2023 Chengdu Europe Culture Season".
Adding an extra touch of enchantment, the towers showcased animated sequences that alternated between the captivating Sichuan Opera face-changing pandas, symbolizing Chinese culture, and the graceful flamenco dancers, representing the rich heritage of Spain.
Distinguished guests in attendance included the Spanish Ambassador to China, Rafael Dezcallar de Mazarredo, who had been invited to partake in the opening concert of the 2023 Chengdu Europe Culture Season.
