A team composed of Javier Perez and children played a friendly football match with PE teachers from Chengdu Griffin International Academy on December 28, 2021. Finally, Javi's team won the game 5-4.

Javier Perez, 34, is a big fan of Real Betis, a Spanish professional football club. Born in Seville, Spain, he is currently working as a youth football training coach in Chengdu.

The Spanish obsession with football culture has deeply influenced Javi. "In Spain, every child plays football daily," said Javi.

It is an unexpected encounter that changed the course of Javi's life. Three years ago, he met a Chengdu girl in Granada, Spain and had a crush on her. Thus, Javi decided to settle in Chengdu with this girl, who later became his girlfriend. Despite his lack of understanding of Chengdu, he soon fell in love with this city. Chengdu hot pot has become his favorite.

Another important reason why Javi firmly chose to live in Chengdu is his commitment to teaching Chinese children to play football. At present, he works for a sports company in Chengdu, specializing in teaching children to play football.

In order to make children better adapt to the Spanish football training mode and improve their skills, Javi ingeniously combines the cultures and characteristics of Chengdu and Spanish football.

Javi does enjoy his life and career in Chengdu. "I would like to stay here in Chengdu. I'm really comfortable here. I really love my job. I really like kids. (I really like to) play with them, (and) teach them how to play football. And I love football. So, I want them to forget about the study for a little bit of time, and then have fun playing football. I will put all my effort for them to make football better here in Chengdu," he said.
