"This is monarch, and this is Mexican yellow butterfly…" 3D street artist Carlos Alberto Garcia Hernandez from Mexico is introducing his new art work especially created for Chengdu.

 

 

Since 2018, the Foreign Affairs Office of the Chengdu Municipal People's Government has held the Chengdu International Sister Cities Sculptures Creation Program. The Program has brought the citizens over a hundred of vivid sculptures created for the parks and Tianfu Greenway of the city, thus enhancing their participation in international exchanges and helping Chengdu to construct a park city demonstration zone.

 

In response to this, many sculptors and painters from the city's international sister cities have made their contributions.

 

In June, 2023, Carlos visited Chengdu for the Program. He had already done a great deal of preparation for a butterfly painting.

 

After visiting an insect museum on the Longquan Mountains, the Mexican artist found out many butterfly species that only inhabit in Sichuan Province, which inspired him to complete the painting.

 

Carlos' journey in Chengdu will provide long-lasting inspiration to his art works. The culture of this Chinese city will also be spread to different cities with his works in turn.
