Recently, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Chengdu Office had helped send a group of 122 Chinese students to study in Thailand.
The 122 students, who are studying for their bachelor's degree, travelled via Sichuan Airlines on 2 March 2022, from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport to Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport.
Mrs. Kanokkittika Kritwutikon, Director of the TAT Chengdu Office, said: "Promoting the international students to study in Thailand is something we are currently focusing on, as it is another market segment that can help stimulate and revive travel to the kingdom. Along with their studies, students have so much on offer in Thailand in the way of leisure and touristic opportunities to enjoy, especially with the 'Visit Thailand Year 2022: Amazing New Chapters' campaign now in play."
The Chinese students' arrival to study in Thailand was possible thanks to cooperation between the TAT Chengdu Office, Sichuan Airlines, and Rangsit and Dhurakij Pundit Universities in Bangkok. As Thailand reopens to international travellers, students from China and other countries abroad are being encouraged to study at Thai universities.
The issuance of visas for Chinese students is also well facilitated by the Royal Thai Embassy in Beijing and Consulate-General Offices in Chengdu, Kunming, Xi'an, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Nanning, Xiamen, and Qingdao City.
About 350 Chinese students from around China are planning to travel to Thailand to study this month, and at least 300 of them have booked the flights and applied for the visas. Two more flights carrying students are set to depart from Chengdu to Bangkok on 9 and 30 March 2022, respectively.
