On the occasion of the fifth anniversary of its opening, Chengdu Tianfu International Airport (TFU) has unveiled two aviation-integrated cultural tourism experiences in its terminals—the “Wings of the Divine Bird” Sanxingdui-themed cultural corridor and the “Hidden Mountain Path” cultural teahouse.

 

 

An Exploration of Bronze Divine Bird

 

 

 

The “Wings of the Divine Bird” Sanxingdui-themed cultural corridor, located in the airport’s airside connecting corridor, transforms what was once a purely functional passageway into a cultural tourism scenario where visitors can explore, experience, and purchase. In the corridor, installations featuring the Bronze Divine Bird, sun-shaped patterns, gold masks, and other symbols of the ancient Shu civilization patiently tell travelers the profound story of a civilization thousands of years ago. On the two sides of the corridor are DUIDUIDUI MUSEUM COFFEE and Sanxingdui Cultural and Creative Shop, which combine display, services, retail, and other offerings in a place where travelers can enjoy a cup of popular specialty coffee and take home their favorite cultural and creative products.

 

 

 

A Sip of Courtyard Tea

 

 

 

The “Hidden Mountain Path” cultural teahouse in the central courtyard of Terminal 2 draws inspiration from traditional western Sichuan residences and renders traditions with modern relevance. It invites travelers to “slow down” on their hurried journeys, sip a bowl of courtyard tea, and try a bite of Sichuan-style pastries in a teahouse with gray-tiled roofs and upturned eaves surrounded by lush greenery. They can quietly soak in the charm and rich cultural heritage of the traditional Chengdu lifestyle.

 

 

 

Chengdu Tianfu International Airport

 

 

Chengdu Tianfu International Airport is the primary hub airport of Chengdu’s International Aviation Hub. Since officially commencing operations on June 27, 2021, the airport has handled over 1.4 million flight takeoffs and landings with a passenger throughput of more than 200 million. It ranks among the top 30 airports in the world.
