A China-Laos freight train departed from Vientiane and arrived at the Chengdu international railway port on May 10, carrying 25 containers with a total of 500 tons of tapioca starch, which is the first in China to adopt a new "fast customs clearance".
What is fast customs clearance? According to the relevant person in charge of Chengdu International Railway Port, the fast customs clearance mode is a new regulatory business model for railway transportation carried out by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China, aiming to further open up the international logistics corridor to the west. In this mode, the import and export enterprises can apply for fast customs clearance procedures in advance, which can directly reduce customs clearance procedures and the operation cost of enterprises and improve the efficiency of customs clearance.
"In the past, our company often imported tapioca starch by land and sea, and the transportation time was about one month. The sea transportation time could be longer due to the weather and other reasons. When we adopt railway transportation, the transportation time takes only one-third of the previous time." Sun Jianwei, president of Micang Supply Chain Group, said. "The fast customs clearance mode after being applied on China-Laos Railway has brought us great convenience in terms of customs clearance cost, customs clearance operation and time efficiency."
In the past, customs clearance usually took between 1-2 days. The fast entry and exit customs clearance reduces the average time to about 3 to 5 hours, he added.
Since the launching of the China-Laos freight train in December last year, the monthly transport volume of trains between Chengdu and Laos has been steadily increasing, according to the related data.
