Kung Fu Panda! Giant Pandas "Fight" for Mating Rights

A few days ago, when the rangers in the Sichuan province Huanglong Nature Reserve were collecting the reserve's infrared cameras' data, they found some videos and pictures of giant pandas gathering and fighting for mating rights, including over 300 photos and 30 videos longer than 15 minutes.

From the pictures, three male pandas fought for the mating with the female panda, and the final winner stayed with the female panda for more than 5 hours. If there are no surprises, the female giant panda will give birth to a baby panda (maybe a pair) at the end of this year.

Wild giant pandas like to live alone, and their daily activities are mainly eating and sleeping. When the annual estrus season comes, the pandas move more frequently and get together easily in order to find a calmer area for courtship. Male pandas usually fight with other male panda, and only the winner can gain priority mating rights.

It is the first time that the infrared camera in the Huanglong Nature Reserve pictured the three pandas fighting with each other since the reserve carried out the monitoring of wildlife and its habitat, mainly by giant pandas.
