On May 19, 2025 local time, the “10th Anniversary Celebration of Friendship City Relations between Chengdu and Łódź”, jointly hosted by the Department of Economic Planning and Development of Łódź, Poland and the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Chengdu Municipality, was held at Orientarium ZOO Łódź.
Adam Pustelnik, First Deputy Mayor of Łódź, and Li Ming, Deputy Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Chengdu Municipality, attended the event and delivered speeches. They jointly unveiled a painted giant panda statue gifted by Chengdu to commemorate the 10th anniversary of friendship city relations.
The commemorative statue integrates cultural and historical essences of Chengdu and Łódź. Chengdu cultural icons and landmarks, such as the Sun and Immortal Birds, Anshun Covered Bridge, the twin towers of Chengdu Financial City, and Sichuan Tower of China, interlaced with Łódź’s cultural and historical sites, including EC1, Piotrkowska Street, the Unicorn Stable, and Manufaktura, are depicted on the same giant panda statue, creating a harmonious and complementary blend. The statue highlights distinctive cultural appeal of both cities and celebrates their long-standing friendship.
Following the ceremony, First Deputy Mayor Adam Pustelnik and Chengdu delegation held a meeting, where they engaged in in-depth discussions on further strengthening cooperation in key industries and exchanges in cultural tourism in the future, among other topics.
