During the 2025 Spring Festival holiday period (January 28 to February 4), Chengdu’s airports handled over 156,000 passenger trips and over 1,080 flight movements, representing year-on-year increases of 9.8% and 23.7% respectively. During this timeframe, Chengdu witnessed 13,000+ entries and exits of foreign nationals, a 56.6% year-on-year surge. Notably, visa-free entries accounted for 3,100+ of these arrivals, constituting 46.7% of total foreign entries. The in-depth implementation of new immigration-specific policies, including the one allowing 240-hour visa-free transit for foreign nationals eligible, has fueled the popularity of “China Fun” and “City Walk” tourism trends, with growing numbers of international visitors choosing to immerse themselves in China’s festive Spring atmosphere and profound cultural heritage during the Chinese New Year.
