Echoes to the Cretaceous—The Last Dinosaur Fragment is now on display at Chengdu Natural History Museum (The Museum of Chengdu University of Technology).

 

 

Over 60 precious Cretaceous-era exhibits from Henan Natural History Museum are exhibited, including six signature museum treasures and three star exhibits.

 

 

As world-class heavyweight exhibits, the treasures on their first visit to Chengdu each have a remarkable story to tell.

 

 

Ruyangosaurus giganteus, currently the largest and heaviest known dinosaur in the world, is renowned as a “heavyweight champion” in the dinosaur world. Huanghetitan ruyangensis, with the longest ribs ever discovered in the world, is hailed as the dinosaur with the largest body cavity in Asia and an Asian “big eater” of the Mesozoic Era. Yulong mini, on the opposite, is the world’s smallest known oviraptor discovered to date. Beibeilong sinensis, a national treasure fossil that was recovered after being lost, is distinguished by exceptionally rare coexistence between embryos and eggs. Macroelongatoolithus xixiaensis is the longest and largest dinosaur egg nest fossil in the world and has become an iconic symbol of Xixia County in Henan Province. Zhongyuansaurus luoyangensis is the first ornithischian dinosaur discovered in central China, holding milestone significance for research into the evolution of ankylosaurs.

 

 

Tarbosaurus luanchuanensis, known as the “Eastern Tyrannosaurus rex”, is the first tyrannosaurid dinosaur discovered in China. It was a formidable predator with extraordinary power. Dracorex hogwartsia, a herbivorous dinosaur named after the magical school in Harry Potter, is a must-see exhibit for Potterheads, bringing a touch of fantasy to the exhibition. Luanchuanraptor henanensis, combining agility with ferocity, is the first dromaeosaurid dinosaur discovered in the Central Plains.

 

 

In addition, the cervical vertebrae and skull of Ruyangosaurus giganteus displayed at the entrance of the exhibition hall are making their first appearance outside Henan Province. Their enormous size delivers a striking visual impact for visitors.

 

 

Besides static displays, the exhibition has specially launched the “Night at the Museum” activity series. Two activities, the “Dinosaur Code-Breaking Mission Scripted Tour” and the “Dinosaur Battle Challenge Carnival”, are launched in parallel, along with a wide range of immersive interactive games and fun science knowledge activities across the exhibition venue. They allow young visitors to discover prehistoric secrets while having fun.

 

 

The exclusive dinosaur-themed cultural and creative exhibition “Cute and Fun Prehistoric Dinosaurs” is introduced simultaneously. Limited-edition ice cream in the shape of little dinosaurs brings both fun and refreshment to summer days.
