Are you looking for a different way to experience Chengdu? You can discover attractions in Chengdu’s surrounding areas.
Thanks to the two major air-rail intermodal hubs, Shuangliu International Airport Railway Station and Tianfu International Airport Railway Station, travelers landing in Chengdu can step out of the terminal and transfer seamlessly to a high-speed train. They may then choose to head into nature or experience the easygoing charm of an ancient town.
→ Lidui Park

Autumn brings pleasant temperatures to Dujiangyan Scenic Area, making it an ideal destination to climb up for a view. After taking in the views of the mighty river, visitors may venture into the green mountains and experience the tranquil beauty of Mount Qingcheng, known as the “most secluded mountain under heaven”.

As dusk falls, Dujiangyan’s Blue Tears is a breathtaking sight. Nearby in Guanxian Ancient City, the crowds bustle along the streets, enjoying delicacies while strolling. The enjoyable atmosphere of an autumn evening is palpable.
→ Xinjin

Autumn in Xinjin offers a feast for the eyes: pink muhly grass at Huawu Renjian, dawn redwoods at Hongshi Wetland Park, vast stretches of reed catkins at Baihetan…

Xinjin’s signature dish, yellow catfish, is its most celebrated culinary specialty. Visitors can drop into a local restaurant to enjoy freshly caught fish slowly simmered over an old stove.
→ Qingbaijiang

In Chengxiang Ancient City, visitors can immerse themselves in the millennia-old lively atmosphere of everyday life. Key features include Xiuchuan Academy, Peng Jiazhen Shrine, Chen Ancestral Hall, and historic buildings along West Street. The ancient city’s main district is free to visit.
→ Sancha Lake

As autumn deepens, the quiet lake grows livelier day by day. “Residents” of the lake such as egrets and grey herons gather on the water, while mallards and other migratory waterbirds arrive for a rest along the way. The lake’s scattered islands are home to a variety of wild birds, including Chinese pond herons, cormorants, and wild ducks.
→ Chongzhou

The three ancient towns—Jiezi, Yuantong, and Huaiyuan—are all worth a visit.

Yanhua Pool is another must-see. As an important filming location for the 1987 television adaptation of Dream of the Red Chamber, it provided the setting for many iconic scenes. It is an ideal photo spot for a trip in traditional Chinese style.
→ Qionglai

At dusk, Wenmaifang glows with gentle lights. Visitors can walk into a cozy bar and watch the evening slowly unfold across the old streets and new lanes while enjoying a glass of Qionglai liquor.

Chengdu Tiantai Mountain Scenic Area, with a forest coverage of nearly 95%, is rich in fauna and flora. In October, the first hues of autumn begin to spread across Tiantai Mountain.

After exploring the surrounding areas, you can always return to downtown Chengdu, find a teahouse, and embrace the everyday charm of the city while unwinding from the journey with a cup of tea.
