The first port-of-entry duty-free shop at Chengdu Tianfu International Airport (TFU) recently opened to the public. With a business area of over 1,000 square meters, the shop is the largest of its kind in central and western China.

Located in the baggage claim hall for international and regional arrivals in Terminal 1 of TFU, the port-of-entry duty-free shop covers 1,060 square meters for its initial phase of operation. By evoking the beauty of bamboo seas through dynamic lighting and replicating the weaving patterns of Shu brocade with vertical light strips, the shop seamlessly incorporates the elements of Bashu aesthetics into its design and embeds the Shu culture into the modern aviation hub.

The port-of-entry duty-free shop at TFU brings together over a thousand mainstream duty-free products, including imported fragrances and cosmetics, snacks, and domestically produced tobacco and liquor, to meet inbound travelers’ diverse shopping needs for high-quality products. In accordance with relevant regulations, passengers who have not yet completed customs entry procedures may enter the shop with their boarding pass and valid entry/exit documents to purchase goods eligible for the duty-free policy.

At the departure hall of Terminal 1, the port-of-departure duty-free shop, with a business area of over 2,800 square meters, has been in operation since 2023. With the opening of the port-of-entry duty-free shop, the duty-free shopping is now available for both arrivals and departures at TFU.

To date, the number of port duty-free shops in Sichuan has increased to four. In addition to the new port-of-entry duty-free shop at TFU, there is one duty-free shop each for TFU departures, Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (CTU) departures, and CTU arrivals.

In recent years, Chengdu’s aviation port has seen growing international passenger traffic and cross-border consumption vitality. Statistics show that, in the first half of 2026, the international and regional passenger throughput at TFU reached 3.489 million trips, increasing 14.6% year-on-year; Chengdu’s departure tax refund transactions grew by 377% year-on-year, and its sales rose by 46% year-on-year.
