Chengdu to Introduce Direct Flights to Busan in September

Next month, Chengdu will launch a regular direct passenger route to Busan, the ROK. This will bring the number of regular direct passenger routes from Chengdu to the ROK to two, allowing travelers to fly directly from Chengdu to Gimhae International Airport in Busan in approximately four hours without a transfer.

The direct passenger flights to Busan will be operated by Air Busan, with the inaugural flight scheduled for September 3. The route will operate twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, using Airbus A321 aircraft. Flights will depart from and arrive at Chengdu Tianfu International Airport. The one-way flight time is approximately four hours.

Located in the southeastern ROK, Busan is the country’s largest port city and second-largest city. Currently, Chengdu operates one regular direct route to Seoul, the ROK, operated by Sichuan Airlines, while flights to other ROK cities require transfers.

Chengdu Increases Direct Flights to Ho Chi Minh City

Recently, flight 9G641 departed from Chengdu Tianfu International Airport and landed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This marked the launch of Sun PhuQuoc Airways’s second route in Chengdu—a direct route between Chengdu Tianfu International Airport and Ho Chi Minh City. The route adds a new convenient air link between western China and southern Vietnam, providing another faster connection for exchanges and economic and trade cooperation between the two cities.

Sun PhuQuoc Airways officially began operations in November last year, with Chengdu becoming its first Chinese mainland destination. In July this year, the airline launched the direct route from Chengdu to Phu Quoc Island. The newly launched direct service from Chengdu to Ho Chi Minh City will offer four round trips per week, bringing the number of the airline’s total weekly flights between Chengdu and Vietnam to 14.

Sichuan Airlines already operates a daily round-trip service between Chengdu Tianfu International Airport and Ho Chi Minh City. With Sun PhuQuoc Airways joining the route, there will be up to two direct flights from Chengdu to Ho Chi Minh City per day. The scheduled flight time is less than four hours.

Additionally, Russia’s S7 Airlines will launch a new direct route from Chengdu to Novosibirsk, starting October 26 this year. From November 11 this year onward, Turkish Airlines will launch a regular direct passenger route from Chengdu to Istanbul, with three round trips per week.
