At 2:17 on the morning of May 17, flight QR861, operated by Qatar Airways, departed from Chengdu Tianfu International Airport and arrived at Doha, the capital of Qatar, after approximately eight hours of flight. The flight marked the official resumption of the direct service from Chengdu to Doha.

 

 

In March this year, Qatar Airways suspended flights to Chengdu, Chongqing, Hangzhou, and other cities due to the impact of conflicts in the Middle East. On April 2, Qatar Airways announced the gradual resumption of three air routes from Doha to Chengdu, Chongqing, and Hangzhou starting May 16.

 

At 14:09 on May 16, flight QR860, the first flight after Qatar Airways resumed direct flights to Chengdu, arrived at Chengdu Tianfu International Airport.

 

According to the latest flight schedule of Qatar Airways, the airline operates Doha-Chengdu flight QR860 three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The flight departs from Doha at 2:40 local time and arrives at Chengdu Tianfu International Airport at 14:55 Beijing time, with a flight time of 7 hours and 15 minutes. The return flight QR861 is operated on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. It departs from Chengdu at 2:00 Beijing time and arrives at Doha at 5:15 local time, with a flight time of 8 hours and 15 minutes.

 

Currently, a total of four direct air routes connect Chengdu with the Middle East and surrounding areas: Chengdu to Dubai, Doha, Cairo, and Istanbul. Among them, only the air route from Chengdu to Dubai has not yet resumed operations.

 

Recently, Etihad Airways announced the planned resumption of the air route from Chengdu to Abu Dhabi, which has been suspended for six years. According to the airline, the first direct flight from Abu Dhabi to Chengdu will be launched on March 5 next year, followed by the first direct flight from Chengdu to Abu Dhabi on March 6 next year. Currently, round-trip tickets for the route are already available for pre-sale. With the resumption of the route, the number of direct passenger flights from Chengdu to the Middle East will increase to five.
