On March 22, 2026, Sichuan Airlines will launch a new direct air route from Chengdu to Vientiane, Laos. Utilizing Airbus A320 aircraft for service, the flight will operate four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Currently, tickets for Sichuan Airlines flights on this route are available for pre-sale. The price (taxes included) for the inaugural flight starts at RMB 909.

As the capital of Laos, Vientiane is the country's political, economic, and cultural center, as well as its largest city.

During the Spring Festival travel rush (chunyun), airlines will increase flights to major destinations in Southeast Asia. Flight frequencies on the Chengdu routes to Bangkok (Thailand), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and Singapore will be increased to a daily maximum of 11, 6 and 5 respectively. Additionally, airlines will occasionally add extra flights from Chengdu to popular tourist destinations, such as Phuket Island (Thailand), Sabah (Malaysia), Bohol Island (Philippines), Langkawi (Malaysia), and Koh Samui Island (Thailand), providing travelers with more international travel options.
