Recently, the World Tourism Alliance, in partnership with Mastercard, Trip.com Group, and other institutions, released the 2024-2025 Cross-Border Tourism Consumption Trends Report. The report indicates that the top ten Chinese cities by total inbound tourist spending between July 2024 and June 2025 were Shanghai, Guangzhou, Beijing, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Zhangjiajie, Suzhou, Xiamen, and Nanjing. Chengdu ranks fifth nationwide, climbing one spot from last year and following only Shanghai, Guangzhou, Beijing, and Shenzhen. It has recorded the fastest transaction growth among leading cities and secured the top position in shopping spend.
