On October 16, 2025, The Temple House, a well-known luxury hotel in Chengdu, officially became Upper House Chengdu, opening a new chapter for one of the city’s distinctive hospitality landmarks.

The rebranding is part of Swire Hotels’ effort to unify its global portfolio, bringing its three acclaimed House Collective properties — in Hong Kong, Chengdu, and Shanghai — under the consistent Upper House name. The group also revealed plans to expand the brand to other cities, including Shenzhen, Xi’an, Tokyo, and Bangkok.
Since its opening in 2015 within the Taikoo Li Chengdu complex, The Temple House has been recognized for integrating modern design with local Sichuan cultural elements. Under the new name, Upper House Chengdu will maintain Swire Hotels’ “Houses, not Hotels” approach, continuing to provide personalized service and a human-centered guest experience.
“The rebrand heralds a new chapter for Upper House as a single, iconic brand,” said Dean Winter, Managing Director of Swire Hotels.

As Upper House Chengdu begins this new phase, it remains a space where tradition and innovation meet, underscoring Chengdu’s evolving role as an international hub for culture, design, and contemporary living.
