A newly-built park, Furong Island Park, on the waters of the Jinjiang River, is about to open to the public soon.

The park's name, Furong (hibiscus flower), is the city flower of Chengdu. Thousands of hibiscus trees are planted across Chengdu, which is known as the City of Hibiscus, especially in the parks, by the rivers and along the greenways.

At present, the exterior construction of the park has been mostly completed, and the park is expected to be officially put into use in the first half of this year.

Located in Chengdu's Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone, the park covers an area of about 42,000 square meters, including 25,000 square meters of the island and 17,000 square meters of the waterfront.

Furong Island Park is organically connected with the surrounding urban system. Based on the original ecology, the park is built into an accessible, perceptible, and participable urban waterfront space.
