Rendering of the "6S" Flying Car Integrated Operations Centre

 

On 31 August, the Chengdu Economic and Technological Development Zone (Longquanyi District) signed a cooperation agreement with Guangzhou Huitian Aerospace Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Xpeng Huitian"), marking the official establishment of Xpeng Huitian's first "6S" integrated flying car operations centre in western China at Dong'an Lake Park in Longquanyi District, Chengdu.

The "6S" Integrated Operations Centre for flying cars, which is now under construction, is another key service hub established by Xpeng Huitian following its Guangzhou facility. Located on Sports Island within Dong'an Lake Park, it covers a planned area of approximately 2,000 square metres. The centre will be developed by upgrading and refurbishing the park's existing buildings, with the addition of supporting infrastructure for flying cars, such as hangars and take-off and landing points. It is scheduled to be completed and put into operation by the end of 2026, at which point trial operations will commence.

To capitalise on the strategic opportunities presented by the low-altitude economy, Chengdu Economic and Technological Development Zone's state-owned enterprise—Chengdu Economic and Technological Development Zone Industrial Investment Group Co., Ltd.—is fully utilising its expertise in the development of industrial platforms and the operation of low-altitude scenarios to play an active role in the construction of the centre's projects. Working in collaboration with Xiaopeng Huitian, it is coordinating efforts on scenario development, resource integration and industrial support, with a view to jointly building an industrial ecosystem for the low-altitude economy.

In addition, the Chengdu Economic and Technological Development Zone has specifically established a district-owned state-owned company—Chengdu Economic and Technological Development Zone Land Port and Aviation Investment and Development Co., Ltd.—which focuses on core business areas such as low-altitude infrastructure construction, demonstration operations for low-altitude scenarios, investment promotion services for the low-altitude industry, and the cultivation of an industrial ecosystem. The company is responsible for coordinating the implementation of low-altitude economy projects, the development of pilot scenarios and the aggregation of industrial chain resources, thereby empowering the high-quality development of the region's low-altitude industry.

 

According to the plan, the Chengdu Economic and Technological Development Zone aims to have more than 80 market entities in the low-altitude economy and an industry scale of 3.5 billion yuan by 2028, thereby establishing itself as one of the city's key low-altitude industry clusters.
