Recently, Chengdu Bailian Outlets Plaza Project, a highly anticipated cultural tourism consumption project located in Chengdu Panda International Tourist Resort, has made steady progress in its construction, with several buildings already topped out.

The project broke ground in October 2025 and is expected to top out its main structures by the end of July this year. Its completion and opening are scheduled for May 2027.

Chengdu Bailian Outlets Plaza Project represents the first flagship outlet presence of Shanghai Bailian Group in southwestern China, the first panda-themed scenic-area-style example of “Outlet 3.0” in China, and the first outlet mall within Chengdu’s five major urban districts. With a planned investment of over RMB 3 billion and a total floor area of over 140,000 square meters, the project is expected to generate annual revenue of more than RMB 3 billion once fully operational.

With the backing of its favorable proximity to Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, the project will deeply integrate the giant panda IP into its design. Moving beyond the conventional outlet model centering on the sales of discounted merchandise, it adopts a structured approach to presenting six themed scenarios—tech-driven interactions, romantic landmarks, eco-leisure, trendy performances, Sichuan lifestyle, and sports—each infused with the signature giant panda elements. It strives to become China’s first distinctive outlet center developed under the “Panda IP + Scenario-Based Business” model and set a benchmark for the deep integration of culture, business, tourism, and sports.

In terms of business mix, the project plans to feature a wide range of discounted products from famous brands, scenic park-style environments, and diverse dining and entertainment options; among them, the landscape-integrated dining and entertainment and other offerings account for over 40%. Additionally, the outlet will welcome over 300 leading international and domestic brands, more than 20 well-known dining brands, and 10 outlet stores debuting in Chengdu. Together, they will create a new urban micro-vacation destination for high-quality cultural tourism consumption that brings together a park-style strolling area, a panda-themed interactive landmark, a vibrant place for Chengdu local experiences, and a curated hub of Sichuan lifestyle.
