An investment cooperation promotion conference for the Chengdu Metropolitan Area (CMA) was held in Shanghai on Monday, December 22, as a highlight of the CMA’s week-long event in the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region .

The conference was part of the investment promotion series themed “Metropolitan Areas Joining Hands for Shared Opportunities” held from December 20 to 26. Chengdu joins with three other cities in Sichuan Province—Deyang, Meishan and Ziyang—to present the metropolitan area in western China as an integrated investment destination.

At the conference, three themed exhibition zones showcased the CMA’s industrial development, featuring achievements from integrated development, high-end products in emerging industries, and lifestyle, cultural and consumer offerings from the region. Meanwhile, mature cooperation models were highlighted.

The week-long event also hosts four themed matchmaking activities that bring together participants across industries.
CMA working teams are visiting key enterprises and innovation institutions in the YRD to attract greater investment and cooperation.
Data from a Tsinghua University–affiliated institute shows that over the past five years, the CMA has ranked first among China’s major metropolitan areas in terms of urban integration. The combined GDP of the four cities reached nearly 2.98 trillion yuan, up 33.1 percent from 2020. Together, they have jointly developed 21 national-level industrial clusters, nurturing nine key industrial chains with a total output value exceeding 1.2 trillion yuan.

Looking ahead, the CMA will collaborate closely with the YRD region. As Shanghai continues to lead city-level cooperation along the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the two regions aim to leverage their complementary strengths, achieve shared success and drive China’s high-quality regional development.
