On October 14, the Second Ministerial Meeting of the IAEA World Fusion Energy Group 2025 and 30th IAEA Fusion Energy Conference kicked off in Chengdu, Sichuan. During the joint opening ceremony, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) officially designated the “Collaborating Center for Research and Training in Fusion Energy” (hereinafter referred to as the Collaborating Center) in Chengdu. As the world’s first IAEA Collaborating Center with a focus on research and training in fusion energy, its designation not only marks a significant leap in China’s international standing and influence in the field of fusion energy but also injects pivotal momentum into Chengdu’s efforts to develop a global innovation hub for fusion energy and facilitate the commercialization of controlled fusion.
