Recently, in the presence of Jan Spooren, Governor of Flemish Brabant Province, and Tom Dehaene, Vice Governor of Flemish Brabant Province, Sichuan SPSI Cloud Port Development Group Co., Ltd., (SPSI Cloud Port), a platform enterprise dedicated to export-oriented economy under Sichuan Port and Shipping Investment Group Co., Ltd., formalized a cooperation agreement on logistics with Belgium’s Ninatrans. This agreement aims to deepen cooperation between the two enterprises in international logistics, warehousing, delivery, China-Belgium trade, investment in logistics and trade projects, and other areas.

“Since 2011, we have maintained a long-term cooperative relationship with Chengdu. This forum undoubtedly provides a significant platform to deepen our partnership. We anticipate deeper cooperation with Chengdu in culture, economy, and other areas.” During 2025 Chengdu International Friendship Cities Cooperation and Development Forum, Jan Spooren had expressed his strong intention to strengthen cooperation with Chengdu. The Belgian delegation included several enterprises, one of which was Ninatrans. In Jan Spooren’s view, e-commerce, logistics, and air freight are pivotal sectors for current economic cooperation. Belgian logistics companies joined the delegation with the goal of exploring closer economic ties with Chengdu.

On April 15, Flemish Brabant Province of Belgium cooperated with Chengdu Cross-Border E-Commerce Association to host a promotion conference themed “Sustainable e-Commerce & the Future of Trade” in Chengdu. At the conference, representatives from the Provincial Government of Flemish Brabant, Belgian Customs, and Belgian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce engaged in direct dialogues with representatives from relevant chambers of commerce, associations, multinational enterprises, and banks in Chengdu to explore avenues for cooperation. The exchange between Ninatrans and SPSI Cloud Port during this event sparked the potential for cooperation.

To further explore cooperation prospects, the Belgian delegation visited Chengdu Tianfu International Airport Comprehensive Bonded Zone and Tianfu Airport International Cargo Center during their visit to Chengdu for the forum. The delegation held discussions with Chengdu Municipal Commerce Bureau, Chengdu Municipal Port and Logistics Office, and other agencies to discuss increasing flight frequency of passenger and cargo routes and expanding new routes, as well as the potential for cooperation in the construction of overseas warehouses.
