On February 11 (one week after the Spring Festival holiday concluded), steadily declining inbound airfares have boosted foreign tourists’ enthusiasm for visiting China. Since the end of the statutory Spring Festival holiday, an average of 1064 foreign tourists have entered Chengdu daily, a nearly 10% increase compared to the Spring Festival period, according to officials of Sichuan Entry-Exit Frontier Inspection General Station. Data show that over half of these international tourists come from Southeast Asian nations. Among the top ten source countries, Malaysia and Thailand currently claim the top two spots in post-holiday tourist numbers.
