On February 19, a non-hereditary inheritor Liu Lingjie from Peng'an, Nanchong, the hometown of Sima Xiangru (an ancient Chinese poet, writer, musician) created five glass paintings to commemorate the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games, which also amazed the viewers.

"Before the Winter Olympics began, I started to prepare for this set of glass paintings when a friend reminded me." Liu Lingjie said. Although she identified herself as a slow painter, she still wanted to complete them before the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games ended.

Glass paintings symbolized the Olympic rings

With the theme of "Phoenix Returns to the Hometown - Glorious Winter Olympics", this group of glass paintings is painted on 5 discs with a diameter of 10 centimeters, which altogether symbolized the Olympic rings. "The first one to start is the green one and base on the phoenix pattern, with bamboo leaves added on to represent the characteristics of Sichuan." Liu Lingjie said that the five glass paintings took up to 20 days, and she has spent 3-4 hours per day on her artwork. The drafting is very simple. When Liu Lingjie started to draw on the glass disc with a brush and add color layer by layer, she acted on her intuition and finally achieved a brilliant and transparent effect.

"During the Winter Olympics, I saw the outstanding performances of those athletes and recorded their highlight reels in my paintings." The glass paintings bases on Gu Ailing and the golden phoenix captures that marvelous moment of Gu Ailing's flipping in the air, showing Gu's love and passion for winter sports.

"I hope that traditional Chinese culture and the Olympic spirit will complement each other and be loved and recognized by more people." Liu Lingjie added.
