Peng'an county in Nanchong, Sichuan province, brought folk parades into its scenic spots during the weeklong National Day holiday, offering visitors a feast of traditional charm with intangible cultural heritage performances.

At the Jialing No. 1 Sangzi Tourism Area, performers staged lotus dragon dances, lotus-picking boat shows, cheche lantern performances, and lianxiao stick dances, drawing applause and pulling visitors into the parade to dance along.

In Xiangru Ancient City—the home of Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 24) poet and musician Sima Xiangru—a Han-style garden party was held, featuring Sichuan Opera face-changing and fire-spitting, Han-style flash mobs and dances, folk performances, and interactive activities.

Sima Xiangru and a young widow, Zhuo Wenjun, fell in love and eloped, and their story has become one of China's most famous romances. At night, a 5D light show turned the ancient city wall into a screen, using holographic projection and sound-and-light technology to tell the couple's love story.
Local officials said the events enriched visitors' holiday experience with new cultural tourism scenes and brought fresh vitality to traditional culture, enhancing the county's reputation.
