This year's Yi Torch Festival in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan, kicked off on July 19 and will run through mid August. The much‑anticipated mass torch carnival is taking place in Xichang tonight (August 8), drawing an estimated onsite turnout of over 100,000 visitors and locals. As night falls, 86 bonfires stretch for 3.2 kilometers. Tourists dance alongside local residents, immersing themselves in the millennia‑old fire culture of the Yi people.
