The newly opened Wyndham Grand Leshan Huatai Hotel, which welcomed its first guests on October 25, adds a fresh dimension to cultural and natural explorations around Chengdu. As part of one of the world’s largest hotel groups, the property introduces international standards of hospitality to Leshan—a key destination in Sichuan’s UNESCO-listed heritage region—enriching the Chengdu-Leshan tourism circuit for global travelers.

Conveniently situated in downtown Leshan City, the hotel is easily accessible from Chengdu via high-speed rail in under an hour. Its central location allows visitors to seamlessly experience major attractions: the majestic Leshan Giant Buddha is about 20 minutes away, while the sacred Mount Emei can be reached in roughly 40 minutes. Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport is also within 90 minutes by car, making cross-destination itineraries more feasible than ever. Besides the iconic Giant Buddha, Leshan is often regarded by food enthusiasts as a "must-visit" culinary destination. The food scene here is a vibrant branch of Sichuan cuisine, known particularly for its street food and snacks .

Under the theme “Elegance of Leshan, Journey Begins,” the opening ceremony highlighted the city’s harmony between nature and culture. Wyndham’s signature blue-and-gold branding was subtly integrated with artistic nods to the Leshan Giant Buddha, reflecting a blend of international style and local character. The event gathered representatives from tourism authorities, enterprises, and media, underscoring the growing synergy between global hospitality brands and Sichuan’s cultural tourism landscape.

The hotel offers 200 guest rooms and 1,200 square meters of event space, alongside leisure facilities such as a fitness center, indoor pool, and multiple dining venues. Its location near Shihau Plaza and Ito Yokado—as well as popular food streets like Jiaxing Road and Zhanggongqiao—invites guests to dive into local life, from shopping to savoring authentic Sichuan flavors.

As an international hotel brand entering a city rich in cultural heritage, Wyndham Grand strengthens Leshan’s position alongside Chengdu and Mianyang as a hub for global travelers. Rather than simply elevating local accommodation standards, the project enhances regional connectivity through Wyndham’s worldwide network, offering visitors a smooth, engaging journey where contemporary comfort meets ancient culture.
