After passing through Beijing, Harbin, Shenzhen, and Chongqing, the Flame Relay for the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games arrived at its fifth leg on 28 June, taking place in Yibin, a city in Southwest China's Sichuan province. The relay ceremony kicked off at 09:00 at Yibin University. The first torchbearer, FENG Zhe, an Olympic champion gymnast, set off in the melody of the theme song, initiating the Flame Relay.
Among the 31 torchbearers, the youngest is 19-year-old ZHAN Xiaoyu, a student from Sichuan Nursing Vocational College, while the oldest is 57-year-old CAI Lecai, Secretary of the Party Committee at Yibin University. Two torchbearers from Yibin added their distinct touch: YANG Fan, a guide from the Zhao Yiman Memorial Hall and LUO Jing, a guide from the Lizhuang Ancient Town.
