Two-day Tour in the Downtown

Authors: Go Chengdu

A short stay will not give you adequate time to explore the city, but a visit to the midtown hot spots will also prove a rewarding experience.

Here we recommend some of the most popular sites including the Wide & Narrow Alleys, Qintai Road, Jinli Street, Wuhou Shrine Museum and Du Fu Thatched Cottage Museum. If time allows, you can also do shopping in the Chunxi Road, the city’s busiest commercial center.

Wide & Narrow Alleys

The site is also called the Real Chengdu in Chengdu and covers an area of over 30 hectares, where the remaining old constructions of the Qing dynasty (1644 -1911) are preserved or renovated, making it a showcase of the old-style Chengdu life.
Consisting of three parallel alleys, the Kuan, Zhai and Jing alleys, the area boasts a pleasant mixture of a traditional setting tinted by the modern touch — the stone-paved paths, blue-brick buildings, quadruple courtyards with bronze button studded wooden doors, luxury teahouses and restaurants, stands selling snacks and handicraft articles, and modern Western style bars.
Opening: 24 hours; most shops (bars excluded) close at 22:00 - 23:00
Admission: free
Qintai Road

One of the city’s earliest theme streets, the Qintai Road features old style architecture, jewelry shops, hotpot restaurants and teahouses. It has a favorable location with proximity to Wuhou Shrine Museum, Baihuatan Park and the Cultural Park.
Opening: 24 hours; most shops and restaurant have the business hours from 9:00 to 23:00
Admission: free
Du Fu Thatched Cottage Museum

Du Fu Thatched Cottage Museum is in honor of Du Fu, a great poet of the Tang dynasty (618 - 907) and surrounded by the large Huanhuaxi Park, the ecological haven in downtown Chengdu and the city’s best bird-watching place.
Opening: 07:30-19:00 (summer), 08:00-18:00 (winter)
Admission: 60 yuan
