Chengdu Zoo is home to more than 3,000 animals of 300 species and claims to be China’s fourth-largest zoo.
Chengdu Zoo is located in the northern suburbs of Chengdu City (about 7 km from the downtown area), adjacent to the famous Zhaojue Monastery.
Covering an area of nearly 18 hectares, the zoo is home to more than 3,000 animals of 300 species and claims to be China's fourth-largest zoo. It has been included in the list of the national Top 10 zoos and awarded as one of the "Global 500 Best" in the UN Environmental Program.
When you walk into the zoo, you can see the giant pandas and Sichuan golden snub-nosed monkeys, as well as many other rare species. In summer and early autumn, people can also enjoy the sight of lotus plants in the lake.
Open: 8:00-17:00 (April-November), 8:30-17:00 (December-March)
Admission: RMB20/person, free to children less than 4.3 feet (1.3 meters) in height
Metro: Line 3 to Chengdu Zoo Stop
Bus: Line 9, 18, 25, 32, 39, 70, 87, 99, 150, 166, 198, 527, 650, and get off at Zoo Station(Dong Wu Yuan Station 动物园站). Enter the zoo by the North Gate (Main Gate).

Panda Base: Come and Cuddle the Cute Animals

To many visitors to the city, the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in Chenghua is a must. The panda base is located on the Futou Hill in the northeast to downtown Chengdu, about 12 km from the city center.
