Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding (panda base) on August 2 cheered the birth of four cubs, the third and fourth twins born at the base this year.
The twins were born by Siyuan, a pluripara, and Jingjing, the first-time mother, said a researcher from the base Yang Kuixing.

“This year has seen nine cubs added to the panda population at the panda base, bringing the total number of giant pandas bred at the base to 165,” said an official from the base, “The panda base is now the largest habitat of captive giant pandas in the world, with 144 pandas, including some rescued in the wild, living at the base.”
