Having complete networks of business, industry, telecommunication and education, Zapopan is recognized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as a city with the highest Human Development Index in Mexico.
Of the city's land, three quarters is used for farming and animal husbandry, about 15% is forested and the remaining is dedicated to the city of Zapopan. It is now home to 22 industrial parks and many Fortune Global 500 companies, including Kodak, Motorola and Coca-Cola. Thanks to its highly developed tourism, most luxury hotels in Guadalajara Metropolitan Area are located in the city, propelling the local development in the service industry. Lots of cultural facilities and tourist attractions are scattered around the city.
Communications and Exchanges between Chengdu and Zapopan:
Tang Liangzhi, the then Mayor of the Chengdu Municipal Government, and Pablo Lemus, Mayor of Zapopan City, signed an agreement on establishing a sister-city relationship between the two cities, in the Mexican city on October 16, 2015 local time. Both parties exchanged in depth views on how to further the mutual partnership in commerce, education, culture, sports and industrial park projects.
In June 2016, a government delegation from Zapopan was present at the 2016 Chengdu Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fair. This was the first delegation from the Mexican city to Chengdu after the two cities established a sister-city relationship in 2015.
In November 2017, a Chengdu media delegation visited Zapopan and communicated with local officials to have an all-round understanding of the sister city in Latin America.

Direct flights to link Chengdu, St. Petersburg

Sichuan Airlines will launch flights between Chengdu and St. Petersburg, the company announced January 11.
