Winnipeg is the third largest city in Canada as well as the capital of the Canadian province of Manitoba.

Major industries of Winnipeg are flour processing, meat & food processing, printing, wine making, clothing and machinery.

The city is also the cultural center of Manitoba. Winnipeg symphony orchestra, Royal Winnipeg Ballet and Manitoba Theater Center are all well famed, and the University of Manitoba and the University of Winnipeg are the key universities in Canada.

Winnipeg is home to International Folk Festival every August. Lake Winnipeg is about 55 km north to urban Winnipeg, making the city a tourist destination for sailing and fishing fans.
Exchange activities:

In October 2010, Vice President of University of Winnipeg Neil Besner and Vice President of Winnipeg Technical College Ellen Brownstone visited Chengdu and had working meetings with Chengdu University on the exchange program of faculty and students.

In April, a delegation of Chengdu media visited Winnipeg.

The Winnipeg Folk Festival has organized various performances by Chengdu artists, such as dancing, acrobatics and musical performances.
