Mechelen (French Malines, traditional English Mechlin), lies between Brussels and Antwerp.
Mechelen has a long history and still retains more than 200 cultural and artistic relics. The famous St. Rumbold’s Cathedral has a history of 540 years, with a tower almost 100 meters in height.
The city is famous for its tapestry industry, and the headquarters of the Vanhool is also situated at Mechelen. The vehicles produced by Vanhool are exported to Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, etc.

On September 1993, the Belgium Toy Fair opened in Chengdu Sports Center.
In May 1994, Mechelen’s football team came to Chengdu for an international football Invitational between Chengdu and Mechelen.
