Linz is the third-largest city of Austria and capital of the state of Upper Austria. It is located in the north of Austria, on both sides of the river Danube. It is the industrial and commercial center as well as the transportation hub with a population of more than 200 thousand.

Founded in the 13th century, Linz has a lot of historic sites in the downtown area, such as the Church of St. Martin and the City Hall, built in the 8th and 7th century respectively.

Great musicians including Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert once led their lives as artists in Linz.

Cultural Exchange:

In April 1990, a 30-member delegation of Chengdu Acrobatic Troupe had performances in Linz to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the establishment of Linz.

In March 2008, Austrian artist Felix Dikeman held a wood-carved painting exhibition in Chengdu.

In July 2010, invited by Chengdu Foreign Affairs office, Austrian singer Gerhard Staudinger, or better known as Cary, sang a song written by himself to express his love for Chengdu during International Youth Music Festival held in Chengdu (Cary came to Chengdu in 1990 to learn traditional Chinese Medicine).

Medical & Health:
From 1989 to 2005, Chengdu and Linz sent 7 groups of exchange students to each other.
