Chengdu and Lahore established Sister City relationship in April 2015.
Lahore is Pakistan's second largest city with a population of approximately 12.5 million, and the capital of the Punjab Province.
As an economic, political, transportation, entertainment, and educational hub in Pakistan, Lahore is regarded as the cultural center of Pakistan as it is abundant in various cultural resources invovling arts, cuisine, festivals, music, film-making, gardening and intelligentsia of the country. Famous tourist attractions in the city include Minar-e-Pakistan, Lahore Fort, Badshahi Mosque and Shalimar Gardens.
The University of the Punjab is located in downtown Lahore and is the oldest and largest public university in Pakistan.

Exchange activities:
■ In February 2006, a Pakistani delegation led by President of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf visited Sichuan. The two provinces of Sichuan and Punjab signed cooperation agreements involving the fields of thermal power, hydro power, environmental protection, railway construction and so on, which laid the basis for the partnership between Pakistan and Chengdu.
■ In April 2007, the Consulate-General of Pakistan in Chengdu was officially open. President Pervez Musharraf and his delegation paid a visit to Chengdu and attended the opening ceremony of the Pakistan Study Center of Sichuan University.
■ In 2010, the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry(FPCCI)set up its first China office in Chengdu, which was also Pakistan’s first overseas agency. A large number of traders and companies attended the annual Western China International Fair (WCIF) with the support of the Consulate-General of Pakistan in Chengdu and FPCCI. Products showed at the WCIF from Pakistan such as wooden furniture, bronze ware, marble handicrafts, carpets, jewelry, leather goods were very popular.
■ In July 2014, Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment (IMHE), Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chengdu and the University of the Punjab signed an agreement on science cooperation projects.
■ In August 2014, the Chengdu Municipal Government and Ms. Amna Baloch, Consul General of Pakistan in Chengdu held talks on promoting the friendly relationship between Chengdu and Lahore.
