Gimcheon — which means Golden Springs — actually derives its name for the the springs and rivers running across the city, since the water resources are regarded more valuable than gold. It is an important city between Seoul and Bushan, the transportation hub and the logistics center in central Korea.

This traffic intersection consolidates Gimcheon’s position as the hub of transportation.

As a cultural city with long history, Gimcheon has a large number of historical sites. The famous Jikjisa Temple, located in the suburbs of Gimcheon, was set up over 1,500 years ago.

The production of gongs and writing brushes in Gimcheon is designated by the Korean government as an intangible culture heritage. The city’s traditional folk music is also well-known.
Gimcheon has more than 200 industrial enterprises in the fields of foodstuff, electronics, machinery, petrochemical, fiber, etc.

Exchange activities:

In October 2007, Mayor of Gimcheon led a delegation to attended the first Chengdu International Agricultural Fair and the 4th Chengdu International Food and Tourism Festival.
On October 26th, 2012, Chengdu and Gimcheon’s civil servants friendly football match was held at Sichuan Gymnasium.
