Bonn, a historical city of Germany, lies at the middle reaches of the Rhine.
Located in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Friendship State of Sichuan Province, Bonn is one of the oldest big cities in Germany with a history of 2000 years. It has a population of more than 300,000, covering an area of 140 sq. km.
Bonn was the capital of West Germany from 1949 to 1990 and now 6 federal departments are still stationed in Bonn. The city is also home to a number of the UN offices and institutions and the headquarters of multinational enterprises, including Deutsche Telekom AG, Deutsche Post AG, Deutsche Welle and World Conference Center Bonn.

In May 2011, delegation from Chengdu city visited Bonn.
In January 2012, Beethoven Orchestra Bonn staged a New Year concert in Chengdu Jiaozi Music Center.
In May 2012, Chengdu Art Troupe attended China Meets Europe activities in Bonn and staged performances with Bonn artists.
