Israeli consulate general in Chengdu starts to issue visas

The Consulate General of Isreal in Chengdu was open on Nov. 17. It is the fourth consulate general of Isreal in China. The newly-opened one has already started to issue official visas.
Matan Vilnai, Israeli ambassador to China said that the establishment of the new consulate general marks the fact that the Sino-Israeli relations are much progressing. It was a good start for the mutual cooperation between Israel and southwest China, and Israel looks forward to furthering the partnership in technological innovation and agricultural water conservancy. Also, he hopes that the direct air link from Chengdu to Israel could be open soon so that the people in these two places could travel with convenience.
Mr. Vilnai also said that the general consulate in Chengdu will update its visa issuing system by February 2015. “It is expected that it will take about a week for people to get their visas.”
The consulate general in Chengdu takes charge of issues in Sichuan, Guihozu and Yunnan provinces and Chongqing Municipality. It is the fourth consulate general of Isreal in China, following those in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong SAR.
