Made-in-Chengdu Vehicles Take Center Stage at CMS 2018-GoChengdu

During the ongoing Chengdu Motor Show (CMS) 2018, which kicked off August 31, automakers based in the city have harvested so far an impressive number of purchase orders.

"From the hot sales of made-in-Chengdu autos at the show, we can feel local consumers' recognition of and preference for the vehicles manufactured here in the city," said a director at the Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Motor Automobile Co., Ltd.

The sought-after made-in-Chengdu autos, including the Peugeot 4008 and 5008, Dongfeng-Citroen's C5 Aircross, as well as FAW-Volkswagen's Sagitar and Jetta, are currently at unprecedented discounts. In addition, the Chengdu facilities of Geely, Volvo and Yema unveiled their new models at the show, which drew lots of attention.

"We've received orders for over 200 Dongfeng-Citroen's C5 Aircross, as well as Peugeot 4008 and 5008 SUVs. Many customers made a special trip to the show for the products they desire," said a field staff member from the company.

To date, the Chengdu Economic and Technology Development Zone has been home to 11 vehicle manufacturers, including the FAW-Volkswagen, FAW-Toyota, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen, Geely and Volvo, etc. In this year's first half, 596, 000 vehicles worth RMB69.33 billion, were made in the zone.

Earlier this month, Chengdu released an initiative involving 50 new policies to bring in talented people, which, in particular, focuses on global high-caliber personnel engaged in such industries as electronic information, auto manufacturing, food and beverage processing and production, equipment manufacturing, and bio-pharmacy.
