As of 2018, Chengdu had over 3,000 high and new tech companies with a total annual output value of more than RMB1 trillion.
Last year, the city saw a sharp increase in the number of new market entities, which hit 541,000, a year-on-year rise of 12.8%, as well as an all-time high of newly listed companies. And its number of patents per 10,000 people was 22, up 15.8% over a year ago.
The city has been expanding its talent pool over the recent years. Since the launch of 12 new policies promoting brain gain in July 19, 2017, Chengdu had attracted more than 260,000 young talents with a bachelor's degree or above by 2018.
