Industrial Parks for International Cooperation in Chengdu

To date, Chengdu has been home to 5 industrial parks for international exchange and cooperation. Playing a vital role in driving the city’s opening up and reform, and attracting foreign capital, technology and managerial expertise, they serve as an important platform for the city’s industrial restructuring and involvement in the Belt and Road development, as well as industrial collaboration with other countries and regions.
Singapore-Sichuan Hi-Tech Innovation Park
Overview
The Singapore-Sichuan Hi-Tech Innovation Park (SSCIP) is the first-ever, iconic integrated urban development project co-invested by Singapore and China's Sichuan Province. Located in the south park of the Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone with a planned area of about 10.34 square kilometers, SSCIP is a flagship project in the state-level Tianfu New Area. It is positioned to be a modern new town to serve innovation-driven enterprises, seamlessly integrating industry, ecology and culture elements.
Major events
In September 2010, the Sichuan Provincial Government reached an agreement with the Singaporean government on the mutual cooperation in the Singapore-Sichuan Hi-Tech Innovation Park.
In September 2011, the Singapore-Sichuan Hi-Tech Innovation Park project was launched in Chengdu.
In May 2012, the Singapore-Sichuan Hi-Tech Innovation Park started construction, and is scheduled to be complete in 2020.
Main industries
New-generation information technology, bio-tech, high-end equipment manufacturing, energy conservation and environmental protection, finance, and commercial services, etc.
Achievements
In 2017, in and around the park, all arterial roads were open to traffic, five of the planned 22 public schools started construction, the west part of the central park was open to the public, and a wetland park was preliminarily completed. Currently, the construction of 24 projects involving public utilities and infrastructure are in full swing, and the east part of the central park will be open later this year.
