Industrial Parks for International Cooperation in Chengdu

To date, Chengdu has been home to 5 industrial parks for international exchange and cooperation. Playing a vital role in driving the city’s opening up and reform, and attracting foreign capital, technology and managerial expertise, they serve as an important platform for the city’s industrial restructuring and involvement in the Belt and Road development, as well as industrial collaboration with other countries and regions.
China-Germany platform for cooperation in innovation-driven industries
Overview
As a state-level project of international cooperation, the platform is dedicated to the synergy of the Made in China 2025 strategy and Germany's Industry 4.0 campaign. According to relevant plan, it takes up 117.8 square kilometers for a core zone (22 sq.km) in the Chengdu Tianfu New Area, a pilot park for industrial innovation and upgrading (7 sq.km.) in the Chengdu Hi-tech Zone, an industrial park focusing on the auto sector (58.8 sq.km.) in the Chengdu Economic & Technological Development Zone, and a park for SMEs (30 sq.km.) in Pujiang County.
Major events
In October 2015, during German Chancellor Angela Merkel's official visit to Beijing, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang proposed to establish a Sino-German platform for industrial cooperation between the two countries, and received a positive response from Ms. Merkel.
In March 2016, the promotion center for the platform was set up.
In November 2016, the core zone of the platform was inaugurated in the Chengdu Science City.
Main industries
Hi-tech innovation, medicine & healthcare, smart manufacturing, international trade and commerce, headquarters economy, international green community, exhibitions, conferences and events industry, and industrial investment fund, etc.
Achievements
In November 2016, 6 German companies signed agreements, totally valued at RMB4 billion, with the Chengdu management committee of the Tianfu New Area and Chengdu Tianfu New Area Investment Group Co., Ltd., respectively. Among the projects involved, a RMB5 billion Sino-German industry fund for innovation and entrepreneurship was established.
